Rita Hayworth was born Margarita Carmen Cansino on October 17, 1918 to a Spanish professional dancer father. Joining her fathers dance troop at the age of 12 she would be eventually discovered at age 15 by a Fox studio head.
It was her dancing talent that would eventually make her a star in the 1941 film You’ll never get rich opposite Fred Astaire. Rita went on to super stardom after her role in “Gilda” (1946) which we have included her famous dance scene below.
